Slovenian-British Ocean Rowing Expedition

Gone fishing

There is not a huge amount to report on over the past few days.  It seems to have been lots of sky, sea, rowing, sleeping and eating.  After all of that there really is not much time for anything else.  I would like to report on sightings of whales and dolphins jumping out of the water as the sun set but unfortunatly i think they were just hollucinations.  While on the subject i have had quite a few recently.  Last night Marin shouted the 10min warning but got no rsponse.  He continuied this giving a countdown every minute and increasing in volume as he went.  By the time he got to 3 min and there was still no sign of life he reached over and shouted while banging on the cabin door.  I woke with a start and imediatly thought i had fallen asleep while  rowing as when i opened my eyes i could see the stars. Quickly siting up i proceeded to whack my head on the roof of the cabin and my head landed back on the pillow very confused.  Al has not managed to escape the cofusion either.  On hearing the sliding seats stop moving in the night he dreamt he was rowing and that it was himself that had stopped and so started to row in his sleeping bag by sliding his legs up and down the bed!!

Today we decided to get marins amazing fishing rod out into action.  Out of a box he finds a Dorado lure, a 4 inch plastic squid.  I was a little sceptical that there would be much out here but in less than an hour we caught our first Dorado, only a small one but a great boost to morale.  We landed it onto the boat and into the washing bucket just as it got loose from the hook.  The four of us looked at the new life on the boat and just started to decide what to do with it when it decided it wanted nothing to do with us jumped free back into the Atlantic.  We will have to wait a little while longer for some sashimi!

Thanks to everyone for all the messages of support and encouragement it really helps us to get up for those night shifts.  Also thanks to everone for the donations to our charities.

For the 4 man in a boat puzzle, when you throw the brick overboard, the water level drops.
