Slovenian-British Ocean Rowing Expedition

Important position

We have two rowing positions on TransAtlanic boat, half of the day we are in one position and another half we are in other. The difference between them is huge.

More important position is those which is closer to the boat stern.

If you are sitting there you are in charge, but the price you are paying is big.

Painful ankle, which you use for control the boat. Rudder turns propotional to the turning plate, which you are moving so, that you rotate your right ankle in one or another direction.

Depilated instep.  Because this position is closer to the stern, to part in which first crash waves. This means that this has a big influence on oars, which often fall into unwillingness of waves. Consequently the oars handle regularly rubs the instep and take a good part of our ''coat'' with them. Fortunately, we often use the CEP socks which protect us against this stubborn problems.

If you are lucky, you can avoid depilation, but this doesn't mean the end of your troubles. One more test is waiting for you, hammering of oars in knees and calf. Waves are also in charge here, they use a pure force to ''tell'' oaks their way.

That isn't enought, the rower have to always watch compass, sea and correctly navigate the boat between waves.

That's not all! One more attribute follows this seat. At night call ''10 minutes'', you get your own TV. A light switches on in cabin and the ''sleeping'' rower must to put his clothes on, this looks very funny and you are looking at him with a smile in your face. But at the other hand this mean that you are looking at space which presents you a shelter, warmth, rest and comfort! And you are outside, perhaps is raining, but you are rowing toward Barbados in good or bad.
