The final week approaches?
We are in the final 400+ miles of the trip now. Top discussion topic is the date and time we might arive and what are the tings we are most looking forward to doing (mainly eating) when we arrive.
Here is the breakdown of when each of us believe we will arive. The person who is closest will be the first to receve the burger and chips when we arrive (that might give you a clue as to what our top pryority is when we arrive).
So here we go:
Marin Medak:
EDA: 26.2.12
ETA: 21:00
Alastair Humphreys:
EDA: 27.2.12
ETA: 21:00
Simon Osborne:
EDA: 27.2.12
ETA: 12:00
Steve Bowens (me):
EDA: 27.2.12
ETA: 09:00
Top three things we are looking forward to:
Marin:
1. Eating: cheese burger with chips and salad
2. Sleeping in a fresh, clean bed
3. Getting in the water and having a go at something other than rowing, e.g. surfing.
Alastair:
1. A full nights sleep
2. To see something other than sea, trees, land, hills.
3. Hot pizza and cold beer
Simon:
1. Sleep with a lie'in
2. Pizza
3. Phoning my wonderfull fiance
Steve:
1. To see Sal and Mum on the pontoon.
2. To have an ice cold beer
3. To have a long shower, get really clean and climb into a clean fresh bed.
We all have things we are very much looking forward to when we get home also. I cannot weight to pick Tillie up from my friends house and take her for a long walk on the coast for instance.
These are the things which we are looking forward to and after spending 38 days rowing day in day out it would be easy to wish away our days undertaking this trip. However we are insuring that we keep enjoying each and every day, this sort of experece does not come along many times in one lifetime and when the small inconviences have long since dissapeared into a distant memory we will all looking back at what we have experenced and smile at the realisation of what is possable with some planning and a lot of determination.
